Mabel Hernandez Aldana
Born in Caracas, I've always had a diverse upbringing, moving between cities in Venezuela and Canada due to my parents' work and education. This taught me that change is a constant, but love and connections endure, and they nourish my spirit.
From a young age, I was fascinated by how artists throughout history portrayed their world. Sculptures by Degas, and works by Botticelli, Klimt, Van Gogh, Renoir, Monet, and Picasso have always held a special place in my heart. Dancers, with their grace and discipline, also inspire me. Moreover movement, color and contrast are essential in my creations.
Although I studied Business Administration at the university and worked in the corporate world most of my life, art has always been a source of joy and completeness and it has always been present in my life one way or another.
Art has always brought me a sense of unity and happiness so as an adult, I delved into fused glass and ceramics for years creating in the quiet of evenings at my studio space at home. It was until I moved to a new country that I embraced painting, mainly with acrylics and mixed media, during the pandemic.
I am always exploring new materials, finding joy in the freedom and spontaneity of the creative process. These days, I aim to invoke spirituality and inner peace in my pieces. Life experiences, nature, emotions, and the satisfaction of overcoming challenges fuel my creativity.
My art seeks to convey contentment, gratitude, and hope amid the inevitable pain and chaos of the world. Ultimately, my mission is to remind us that we're all interconnected, reflections of one another, united with the world.
Every day, I strive for growth and hope for the space to expand my artistic journey.
